Story Behind the Curve
Since 2010 ECOS strategy 2 to focus 80% of new commercial development in areas planned for growth was achieved. The areas planned for growth consist of the Center, Enterprise, Metro, Suburban, and Village Planning Areas seen on the map below.
Why Is This Important?
The location of commercial development in areas with existing infrastructure, services, and residential development instead of development in rural areas will create a built environment that uses less energy, preserves rural areas, and maintains Vermont's historic settlement patterns.
