Story Behind the Curve
The number of children and families experiencing food insecurity in Talbot County has been steadily rising since just before the 2008 economic down turn. Talbot during this same time period has been experiencing a steady rise in poverty, especially amongst single parent households, and a rise in the number of immigrants.
The Talbot Family Network and the Talbot County Hunger Coalition have been working with food resource organizations in the county to ensure access for families and have been educating the general public about the issue to encourage support of local food banks.
