Why Is This Important?
Unfortunately, there is a correlation between poor outcomes for children and children growing up in single-parent households. This includes a higher rate of poverty among children living in single-parent households. In 2015, among children living with a single mom, 43% were living in poverty. In contrast, only 9% of children in two-parent households were living in poverty. U.S. Census, 2011-2015 ACS 5-Year Estimates
