What is this about?

A death is considered preventable if, in the light of understanding of the determinants of health at the time of death, all or most deaths from that cause (subject to age limits if appropriate) could be prevented by public health interventions. This indicator is presented as an age-standardised rate per 100,000 population to enable comparisons over time and with other places.

Jersey's mortality statistics follow the methodology used by the United Kingdom Office for National Statistics so the indicator only shows the period since national definitions were updated.
