Professionals and members of the public with concerns about children or young people can contact the Children & Families Hub. Professionals will consider the information available and if it’s felt that a family need social work support, they will be referred to Children’s Social Care.  This indicator counts the number of referrals to Children’s Social Care.

The implementation of the Children and Families Hub in 2020, and the development of Early Help,  has meant that more families are receiving the right help at the right time. Consequently, the number of referrals to Children's Social Care has reduced and Social Workers are able to focus on those families that need their support the most. Our re-referral rate has reduced to 711 in 2020 and remained fairly constant since.
