What is this about?
This data is gathered using the Jersey Opinions and Lifestyle Survey, which surveys a representative sample of adults in Jersey. Respondents are asked: 'As a household, how easy or difficult do you find it to cope financially?', and can answer very easy; quite easy, neither easy nor difficult; quite difficult or very difficult. The indicator counts the proportion of households with children who respond quite difficult or very difficult as a proportion of total responses.
Over time, the indicator shows nearly twice as many households with children reporting difficulty coping fnancially as households without children. In both 2010 and 2014, 19% of households with no children found it difficult to cope financially at some level compared to about 38% of households with children.
In 2022, 41.0% of households with children in Jersey reported finding it very difficult or quite difficult to cope financially than those without children (20%).
