What is this about?
This data was collected via the Jersey Opinions and Lifestyle Survey, which surveys a representative sample of adults in Jersey, respondents are asked whether they consider that they have been discriminated against on a variety of grounds including age, race and gender in the previous 12 months.
In jurisdictions worldwide, it is taken for granted that people should be protected against discrimination. The data provided by this indicator supported the roll-out of new legal protections against discrimination in Jersey from 2014. It is not realistic to expect all discrimination to be formally reported, so this indicator complements official case records to help understand the scale of the problem and the impact of efforts to address the issue over time.
The 2022 survey results showed a decrease in perceived discrimination compared to 2019.
