What is this about?
This indicator combines records from the States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service on the number of dwelling fires in Jersey with demographic data to produce a rate per 1,000 population. It is of particular interest because, as a general trend, the rate of dwelling fires in Jersey has been increasing over the last decade, in contrast to England, Scotland and Wales where it has declined year-on-year for 20 years.
Please note that from 2015 the mid year population estimates (from the Population & Migration Statistics Report 2011-2021) have been used to calculate this measure.
