What is this about?

Good policy making and evaluation is based on evidence. The Jersey Biodiversity Centre collates and manages the biological observations (records) which have been recorded in Jersey and its territorial waters over the past century by various organisations and individuals. This provides high quality, accurate and timely data which are used to underpin conservation decision making and protect Jersey’s biodiversity for future generations. Without this information there is a risk that rare plants, animals and fungi will inadvertently be lost.

This indicator tracks the number of records added to the Jersey Biodiversity Centre year-on-year. Since 2012, there has been a over 50% increase in the number of records held by the Centre.
