Story Behind the Curve
Mental health conditions such as depression and the inability to deal with stress can result in disability and even suicide. Nationally,it is estimated that nearly one in four adults suffer from
some form of mental illness. Mental illness not only results in direct impairment, but it also puts individuals at greater risk for chronic diseases.
Male suicide rates in Logan County were 7 in 2017; 11 in 2018; and back down to 7 in 2019. From 2015-2019, the age groups with the highest rate of suicide for males was 18-34 years old and 50-64 years old.

Evidence-based programs and policies:
- Focus on education and policy changes within the schools and community
- Identify and assess factors which may increase male suicide rates: demographics, housing and working conditions, mental health status, marital status, health status, etc.
