Story Behind the Curve

To reach UWSC's bold goal, an additional 72 individuals should receive rent or utility assistance annually through 2025.

It is important to note that this metric pulls data from just 2 funded programs, Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance and The Salvation Army. Several other programs provide emergency rent and utility assistance, including Story County General Assistance, faith-based organizations, partner agencies, and others. As such, hundreds of thousands of dollars are expended annually to ensure our neighbors can stay housed. Yet, housing insecurity continues to be a real and pressing concern in Story County.

The data reported here is an aggregate of data reported (to ASSET) by the rent/utility programs of Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance and The Salvation Army.

*Though ACCESS, TBH, YSS, and MICA (LiHEAP) all provide financial assistance for homelessness prevention, these dollars do not come from UWSC and thus are not part of this calculation.*
