Story Behind the Curve

Explain the factors that impacted the FY22 actual data.

During FY22, OEM participated in 5 tabletop exercises with other City and State partner agencies – these exercises were inclusive of flooding, stadium, maritime, food and water, and fleet week scenarios.

In addition to tabletop exercises, the office has placed a strong emphasis on offering and coordinating training for City personnel. Training of the caliber offered is another strategy for ensuring preparedness city-wide in the event of an emergency.

During the fiscal year we were able to offer two training series to City employees – a Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) series on disaster management and FEMA Continuity Planning.

Finally, during this fiscal year, OEM staff participated in 1,267 hours of training.

Explain how the FY24 target was established.
