Story Behind the Curve
The Caroline County Family YMCA’s mentoring program continued to make an impact on the pairs we serve. In Quarter 4 we had 20 mentees engaged in our program; with 1 new match joining our program. We received 11 new referrals this quarter from our different community partnerships and are working hard to get these referrals matched. Despite the challenges this past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic we had 3 mentees graduate from High School this quarter with 1 graduating with honors. We had another mentee recognized with The Most Improved award for science and most outstanding award for language arts at Lockerman Middle School.
FY21 continued to be a challenging year. When the Governor lifted the Emergency Order kids started returning to the program and new referrals also started coming in.
FY22-
Coming out of Covid-19 the one on one mentoring program still faced challenges in recruiting new mentors and successfully matching new referrals to mentors. Referrals increased with the return of in-person learning in school.
