Story Behind the Curve
Onslow County Health Department aims to offer at least 1 Faithful Families program each quarter. The majority of the quarters had great success in participants attending at least 50% of the program's sessions. The lack of attendance for Faithful Families in the last quarter of 2024 could be attributed to the church facing significant hardship (loss of a church member, needing to relocate the congregation into a different facility, etc.) back to back.
Two cohorts of Faithful Families were implemented at Marshall Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and H20 Ministries in 2025. Although there is a decrease in data for the number of participants that attended the cohort in Q4, H20 Ministries serves individuals facing challenges like homelessness and job insecurity. The program's impact on the participants was significant and resulted in great connections in the community. In the quarters where data was not reported, OCHD continued to make contacts with faith-based organizations, spread awareness of the program, and go to churches to market the program and discuss how it could be implemented.
