Story Behind the Curve

Since September 2022, the Onslow County Health Department started tracking referrals made to the Onslow County Parents, Education, Empathy, Rapport, and Support (PEERS) Family Development Center. PEERS Family Development Center services support families by providing adolescent parenting programs, childcare, and educational support (e.g. stress and anger management, basic baby care) with the goal of preventing child abuse and neglect. The Health Department refers pregnant patients under the age of 19 to PEERS Family Development. 

Monthly referrals will vary, as referrals are only made for pregnant patients under the age of 19.
