Story Behind the Curve

Montgomery County has experienced significant fluctuations in drug overdose deaths over the past eight years. Following the distribution of opioid settlement funds harm reduction efforts, including naloxone distribution, increased access to treatment and recovery services, expanded harm reduction programs, and stronger community awareness campaigns, have contributed to a gradual decline in overall deaths.

Montgomery County continues to strengthen prevention, treatment, and recovery infrastructure to bend the curve downward further, with a focus on early intervention, youth prevention strategies, and equitable access to services for all residents.
