Since 2009, the number of overdose deaths within Wake County has steadily increased over the years. The largest change in the number of deaths reported occurred between the years 2019 to 2020. During this time, the number of deaths increased from 130 in 2019 to 198 in 2020, a 58-person difference. Currently, 2022 holds the highest number of overdose deaths recorded in the county at 241.
