The PORT of Alexander County distributes free overdose kits upon request and with every home visit following an overdose in the county. The kit includes one dose of narcan, fentanyl test strips, information about PORT and the AC Health Department services, and some giveaways with PORT logo and contact information. This program began in October of 2023 based on the SUD Coalition of ACHD, and is supported by Opioid Settlement Funding under EMS. Since the Community Paramedic was hired in October 2023, 2023 numbers only host October, November, and December.
