Story Behind the Curve

Overdose death rates doubled between 2019 and 2020 and doubled again between 2020 and 2021. While the rate trended down in 2022, it remains well above  pre-Pandemic rates. Data from our Emergency Medical Services show that in 2022, Narcan was administered #184 times and in 2023, #164 times for overdose. Our 911 Call Center data shows they received #217 calls (2022) for reported overdoses and #193 calls (2023), however they are finding that many callers are not reporting the issue as an overdose out of fear.
