This measure represents the percentage of children who are victims of abuse or neglect who are able to safely remain at home with supports and services as needed. This includes all children who come to DCFS attention, including a CPS investigation. DCFS strives to serve children in their home whenever safely possible.

DCFS strives to support familial autonomy to the greatest extent possible during the family’s involvement with the agency while also addressing safety concerns and reducing recidivism. DCFS served 92.5% of child victims in their home over the most recent quarter, a slight increase from 92.2% in the prior quarter and continuing the positive trend seen since FY 2025. DCFS will continue to strive to serve children in their homes whenever safely possible by connecting families to community resources, mitigating safety and risk concerns with robust and collaborative safety planning, and providing ongoing case management services when needed.
