Definition

The metric measures the number of responses from mobile crisis management after receiving calls for assistance.

Story Behind the Curve

Fewer people may be using mobile crisis services in Alamance County in 2025 for several reasons. More people are going to the Behavioral Health Urgent Care, which extended longer hours and doesn’t require appointments, so they may not need a mobile team to come to them. Medicaid has also made it easier to get mental health care in other ways, which might shift people to different services. Some mobile crisis teams may not have enough staff or funding to respond as quickly, making them harder to rely on. In rural areas, it can be difficult for people to call or feel comfortable having someone come to their home. Some people may also still go straight to the emergency room instead of using mobile crisis, especially if they’ve had trouble getting help from mobile teams in the past.
