Story Behind the Curve
The Prairie Winds District continually monitors the rate of advancement of the youth in each unit. The number of youth advancing a rank from 2017 to 2018 dropped by 8. Advancement is a good indicator of program being delivered well. In the case of low or no advancement the Volunteer Committee will attempt to support the leadership in a unit and provide them with help.
Partners
Scouting partners with a variety of organizations to bring the Scouting program to the youth of Story County. Many service organizations like , American Legions, Lions Clubs, Izaak Walton League, Elks Lodge, and a multitude of Churches serve as a chartering partner to our Scout Packs, Troops, and Crews. The Chartering Organizations adopts the Scouting program for their youth and provide meeting space, helps recruit, approve leaders and follow the policies of the Boy Scouts of America. Scouting is supported by many of these same organizations and individuals in the communities of the Story county financially. Their support enables the Scouting program to flourish and grow. We are voluteer driven and hundreds of voluteers offer their time, knowledge, skills and finanical support to keep the program strong.
Action Plan
The Prairie Winds District Committee will continue to monitor and react to low or no advancement throughout the year. They will respond with visits with the leadership to offer training, mentoring and support where needed. The strength of the program being delievered is a reflection of the District as whole. The Districts responsibility is to make sure opportunity is available to strengthen the unit leadership and make the units program strong.
