What is this about?
The Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scales are used nationally and internationally to measure mental wellbeing at population level and evaluate programmes and policies which aim to improve mental wellbeing. Local data is gathered by regularly using the Jersey Opinions and Lifestyle Survey to ask a representative sample of adults a standard set of questions from the 'short Warwick-Edinburgh scale'. The responses inform a population-level result on a scale between 7 and 35 with higher scores indicate higher positive mental well-being.
Jersey's average mental wellbeing score of 26 has remained unchanged since the indicator was introduced in 2012. This is similar to the average population score in the United Kingdom of 25.2.
