​Increasing the amount the Island can produce per employee (by working smarter, not longer) is the main way to achieve economic growth, improve competitiveness and raise the standard of living. This productivity indicator is calculated by dividing Gross Value Added (GVA) by the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) employees. The results from previous years have been adjusted to account for inflation and allow comparisons over time.
