Juvenile Diversion Program (Washington County FY23 and Beyond) Annual

Program Summary

FY23: A diversion program that works to rehabilitate youth before entering the justice system to help address the factors that led them to crime and divert them to needed services. Modeled after Frederick County’s JEDI program, our program will be open to youth ages 10-17 who are charged with first-time non-violent offenses and certain low-level repeat offenses.

Target Population

FY23: Youth ages 10-17 who are charged with first-time non-violent offenses and certain low-level repeat offenses (considered on a case-by-case basis). Referrals will be made by the WCSO, HPD, and WCPS. The DJS will screen cases and refer eligible ones to the Service Provider (SP) for diversion.
