Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

Logo

Description

The X County Health Department ensures that select employees receive training in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), a comprehensive two-day in-person workshop designed to teach participants how to assist individuals at risk of suicide. During the workshop, participants learn to recognize the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide, how to intervene effectively, and how to develop a safety plan that connects the individual to further support.

ASIST aims to increase participants' willingness, confidence, and ability to provide "suicide first aid" in critical situations. The training is led by two experienced and supportive trainers who foster a comfortable and safe learning environment. This program equips X County employees with the essential skills to respond to individuals in crisis, providing them with the tools to make a meaningful difference in preventing suicide and connecting people to the help they need.
