The Adolescent Parenting Program (AP2) is designed to help teens and their babies achieve a better future. The AP2 Program supports first time pregnant and parenting teens ages 13-20 to become self-sufficient and better able to support themselves and their families. Specifically, the AP2 Program helps adolescent parents to get an education, acquire job skills, improve parenting abilities and prevent future pregnancies. AP2 participants receive home visits twice a month and use the Parents and Teachers curriculum. Participants are also invited to attend monthly group education sessions.

AP2 Goals:

• Increase self-sufficiency outcomes for participants by increasing the delay of a subsequent pregnancy and increasing graduation from high school with diploma or completion of GED.  

• Improve child welfare and school readiness outcomes for the children of participants by increasing positive parenting practices to support their child’s cognitive development and mental health and increasing incidence of child’s physical well-being by establishing a medical home and creating a safe home environment.
