Active Parenting Program was implemented in FY16 using a resource development grant. Performance measures for FY17 are not comparable to those use for the pilot program in FY16.
Program Summary
FY20 to FY21: The Parenting Skills Development program provides free regular parenting classes in Somerset County and at the Somerset County Detention Center and Eastern Correctional Institute to support family change in a class setting. The program employs the evidence-based strategy of Active Parenting/Active Parenting of Teens/Families in Action and Parenting Inside Out.
The Active Parenting program provides free, regular parenting classes in Princess Anne and at the Somerset County Detention Center and Eastern Correctional Institute to support family change in a class setting.
Target Population
FY20: The target population for the community-based program is families in Somerset County who have been referred by the court system or social services and are in need of specialized parenting support. Families with emotionally disturbed, behaviorally disordered, victimized or resistant youth, and parents who are age 16 to 24 and are not in school or working will be targeted for the program.
Families in the greater Princess Anne area who have been referred by the court system or social services and are in need of specialized parenting support, and inmates at Eastern Correctional Institution and Somerset County Detention Center who have children.
