Y: INACTIVE - Vermont Medicaid's Experience of Care Scorecard - 2022

This scorecard represents results from the Department of Vermont Health Access' annual Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Medicaid Adult and Children surveys. Vermont Medicaid uses a nationally recognized experience of care survey tool, administered by a nationally certified vendor to a sample of both our adult and child beneficiaries. Most of the performance measures (PMs) listed below are composite measures.

Who We Serve

A random sample of the Vermont Medicaid population is drawn each year for the CAHPS surveys. Respondents are asked to select their race from the standard survey categories. The adult and child results can be seen in the table below:

Why Is This Important?

The voice of the customer is a critical element in the administration of the State Medicaid plans. Hearing from our customers provides us with useful information about what we're doing well and what we could be doing better. The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey provides an assessment of health plan performance from a customer perspective.

What We Do

The mental health supplemental question set was added to the Adult CAHPS survey in 2021. The introduction to this set of questions reads, "People can get counseling or mental health treatment for many different reasons, such as: Feeling depressed, anxious, or stressed. Personal problems (like when a loved one dies or when there are problems at work). Family problems (like marriage problems or when parents and children have trouble getting along). Needing help with drug or alcohol use."

The Department of Vermont Health Access' (DVHA) certified vendor administered this survey to parents/guardians of eligible child members 17 years of age and younger enrolled in Vermont's Medicaid managed care program, Dr. Dynasaur, via a mixed methodology (mail with telephone follow-up).
