In the United States in 2021, only 17.9 percent of people with disabilities were employed, compared to 61.8 percent of people without disabilities. Black people with disabilities face even greater challenges in the workplace with employment rates well below the rate for White people with disabilities. Policy initiatives, such workforce development and hiring incentives, can be redesigned to turn the curve and better serve individuals seeking employment.
