Licensed Capacity and Regulated Child Care Program Totals

This Scorecard presents the licensed capacity and total number of regulated child care programs in the State of Vermont based on an annual point-in-time measurement at the end of September, the close of the federal fiscal year.

It excludes license-exempt relative care providers (known in Vermont as ARCCs; Approved Relative Child Care providers), as we do not assign specific capacity to those providers, nor are they subject to the same regulatory oversight.

Capacity for family child care homes is assumed as 10 children per program -- two infants, two toddlers, two preschoolers, and four school age children -- across the board, whereas capacity for other programs varies.
