Progress on CHIPs
We've worked to engage community members and our local WIC staff in identifying strategic opportunities for high-impact improvements. These include strengthening partnerships that work to enroll pregnant women into WIC during their first trimester, identifying opportunities to retain participation among children after their first birthday, building a stronger community understanding around the impact of WIC, and increasing community-based referral partnerships.
Progress in 2024
- The state has implemented changes to foster a more participant-friendly environment and support the ongoing modernization of WIC services to prevent a lapse in food benefit issuance during the certification period.
- We have worked to create an expedited process for temporary eligibility for pregnant women who are at an appointment in our Prenatal Clinic.
- WIC is now offering a late clinic twice a month until 7PM.
