Description
Grief Support Groups are typically held multiple times a month at various locations throughout the county. For those who are interested in accessing these services, please reach out to Mike Wheeler at mwheeler@hydecountync.gov or (252) 926-4392.
Grief support is available to anyone suffering from any form of grief.
Grief Support Groups in Hyde County bring together people who have the shared experience of loss and provide a safe environment for these individuals to share their thoughts and emotions. These groups are meant to assist individuals in coming to terms with their particular loss.
Progress in 2022-2023
Grief support groups began in February 2022 continues to meet monthly. There was a dip in the number of support groups offered in the latter half of 2023 due to competing priorities for our Certified Peer Support Specialists.
Progress in 2025
In Spring 2025, the HCHD's Substance Awareness Program lost two of its three Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSSs), and all forms of group peer support essentially ceased. With the hire of one new CPSS in late 2025, we hope to see grief support groups resume in 2026.
